Featured Replies

hi folks just after some advice every morning i start my car it runs fine for a few seconds then starts running like a bag of **** then stalls. anybody got any ideas of what could be causing this as its starting to really **** me off now

P.S NO ENGINE MANAGEMENT LIGHT

Try unplugging the MAF sensor.

if the maf sensor was ****** it would put the engine management light on tho i would think

No, I've ran VAG engines with the MAF unplugged several times, & it has never put the EML on.

i see do u think it could be that then only does it when its cold runs splutters then cuts out and the throttle pedal does nothing

Had the same thing on an Audi A3 Quattro. MAF was ******.

a new maf sensor then eh

Could also be the Coolant Temp Sensor at fault if it only happens on cold start.

my friend works for vw and hes had it plugged in to the computer and theres no fault codes like

Pretty sure both the MAF & the CTS only throw codes if there is no continuity or a short circuit.

right ok buddy will price them and see how much they will cost

If the engine runs fine when it's warm I would look at replacing the CTS 1st or get your mate to check that the ECU is getting the right temp reading from the CTS.

ye its fine like will just get a cts then

I advise that you to get a genuine VAG CTS (£25ish), & not a cheap ebay version as they rarely work properly.

i will do i always buy genuine parts

jorily skoda have them for £15 on that well known internet auction site

yo were in dumfries u from man

ive replaced both the coolant temp sensor and air intake sensor on mine , and its still doing this

my mate did a logging on vag com and said the maf was reading lower than normal would this suggest the above?
