Poly bushes? worth it or not?

Featured Replies

Hi there all, I am about to replace the wishbones on my Fabia 1.9TDI, My question today is whether it will be worth replacing the the actual bushes for poly bushes? Is this as easy as just replaceing the wishbones for standard ones? where would I get them at a good price? Can I expect more wear out of them? I am on the road alot and need something that will give me many miles of wear. I have access to a press to get old bushes out etc, will this be required or will they just fall out?

Lots of questions I know but I am in the dark regards poly-bushes.

My warmest regards to all.

Eddie

What's wrong with your wishbones?

The front bush which is the only one that is part of the wishbone don't normally wear out. You can get polybushes for the wishbone. Standard ones are a little tricky to remove, I just use a bolt, washer and a deep socket to pull them through. Normally the poly bushes are In two halves and just pop one in each side

I have lots of movement in the rear bush of the wishbone, balljoints seem to be ok and if I buy new genuine wishbones I have to buy the ball joint seperate, non gen seem to come with the ball joint but I am always wary about putting non genuine parts on. Was just wondering if poly bushes would allow me to recycle the wishbones that are original to the car. I have seen the poly ones on ebay but am not sure if it might be easier to get non gen wishbones and just replace the lot.???

Starting to confuse myself lol.

The rear bush on the wishbone doesn't come with the wishbone, it's part of the alloy console behind that.
