Fabia vRS Wind Noise ?

Featured Replies

Hello there, just joined up and looking to order a vRS estate tomorrow, to replace a Merc A Class which has become a bit too slow for my needs.

I've had a test drive of the hatch and was immediately impressed with the driving experience, and it does seem a no brainer with the practicality/performance/economy/road tax combination. I've also done a lot of reading up on road tests etc, but came across a couple complaining about the wind noise being 'excessive', although another mentioned how quiet the car was !! I don't remember noticing any excessive wind noise on the test drive, but maybe not paying full attention to this at the time.

Anyway just wondering if anyone has a excessive wind noise 'issue' ?? I know it's all relative, and maybe some early test cars had a few issues which were then addressed ??

Any comments welcome,

Thanks,

Sandy

Never noticed it myself.

Tyres can get noisy at times with them being low profiles.

Never noticed any wind noise in the demo car and we did get up to 70mph.

No wind noise in ours

I did a 110 mile test drive, and the wind noise gets high at around 50mph upwards.

It's not terrible, but noticeable. Bear in mind though that I'm used to driving a Merc C class which has a lot more sound insulation.

I think part of the problem might be the quite large wing mirrors.

The road noise was also noticeable - much more than in a 1.2TSI that I drove, but that's to be expected when you consider the size and profile of the tyres.

Thanks for the replies, I guess it depends on what you compare it to.

The A Class is very quiet, but I never noticed any excessive wind noise on the test drive so can't believe it could have been that bad, maybe i'll ask for another quick drive.
