Body repairs Aberdeen

Featured Replies

Was involved in a 8 car pile up on the A90 on Saturday morning resulting in my Octavia vRS sustaining serious body work damage. Unsure the extent of the damage with regards to repairing the car or it being deemed a write off I am looking for recommendations for body shops in and around the Aberdeen area if repair is the option. Thanks in advance, If anyone can explain how to upload a photo i will post a couple

Nightmare Ped ! I did spot one Octavia in the pic in the paper - you?

I don't have any great news on who to use, but I do know who not to use & that's Arnold Shark. I have had some incredibly poor repairs in the past by them (thankfully to company cars !) & I know others that have had some real issues with the quality of their work.

If you go thro' your insurance, they will probably try to force you down that cheap & cheerful route ! Probably best if you can wangle it to use the likes of James Conn (used with success before) or Burnetts (I think that's their name?). Sadly I can't really recommend Spec Cars either - only used them once many moons ago to repair a Golf GTI my neighbour bashed - can't say I was too delighted with the repair/paint match !

Will come back to you if I can think of any other good ones.

Thanks for that harveys. Yep that was me on the front of the Evening Express! James Conn has been recommended by the garage who service my car. Insurance company tried to put me to JM (belmont) on St Machar Drive but no chance last car was back 4 times and eventually had to take it else where. Nightmare this, only stopped to see if everybody was alright in the accident that happened in front of me then stood and watched as my car was hit. At the end of the day nobody was hurt and cars can be repaired or replaced.

Car is now going direct to Inverurie Autobody as they are the only company nearby apart from John Martin in Aberdeen that are approved repairers for the insurance company. A couple of pictures are hopefully attached

Is it a facelift VRS? if so then i would have thought that would be repaired no problems....Just make sure you check it, check it again and then just give it another check when you come to pick it up!

It is gutting though seeing it like that....

Was this the pile up justs south of Forfar at about 8am? police were sheperding cars past that when I went down the road to Dundee, but had all cleared when I returned north at about 10am. Didnt spot which vehicles were involved.

The stretch of the A90 between Inverarity and Kirrimeuir takeouts has seen 1-2 major accidents weekly since the start of December ( including a couple of fatalities) so on the bright side I suppose the damage was only to the car and not to you- bad enough though.emoticon-0106-crying.gif

yes it's the face lift model a mere 10 months old. **** happens! Accident happened at ten to 8 road hadn't been gritted and was a sheet of ice, struggled to stay on my feet when i got out of my car. But like you say no one was hurt so that's the main thing.

Oh me Pedd, I am even more sick for you, now that I have seen the pics ! That will take some fixing. Fingers crossed Inverurie do a good job, I think they are one of the more reputable companies out there.

I like your attitude - as you say cars can be fixed, they may be our pride & joy, but when it comes down to it, it's more important that we don't need fixing...& you had a close escape by the sounds of it. I don't know the full story, but I think it is fair to say that Bear are next to useless when it comes to treating the A90 & the councils have done little better this year (further cutbacks are not going to help). I travelled the A90 & all roads south daily for about 10 years (Abdn - Dundee mainly) & always thought there was a noticable difference in treatment quality after you crossed into Tayside & Angus (Tayside Contracts as they were?)...it just always seemed to be better the further south you went - only my opinion mind you. I stuck winter tyres on my Vrs this year, after the debacle of last year, best decision I've made for a while.

BTW I'm sure I've seen you around Aberdeen or the 'shire before, I recognise the reg, what was it on before the new Vrs? I use the A90 every day & go over the 'drive to work.

Number plate been on 3 vRS's now. First was a black Fabia vRS followed by a blue Fabia vRS SE and now a slightly broken Octavia vRS FL. Used winter tyres on tham all and swear by them. Had a call from Inverurie today saying its going to cost £6k plus to put right. Now waiting for the go ahwad from the insurance company. Ah happy days!

£6k - ouch...

Used winters years ago on my wifes V5 Bora but only on the front. Should have bought a set when I first got my Vrs but thought I knew better. The appalling state of the roads last year convinced me it really was the way to go this year...not looked back & now firmly converted.

Good luck with the repairs mate.
