Bluetooth connection "BING"

Featured Replies

Hi,

Recently got a new octavia and am hoping someone can help. I am new to the forum.

Is there any way to lower the volume of the alert tone when a phone is connected/ disconnected?

It really is loud, makes me jump every time.

Thanks

EDIT: Sorry I should have mentioned that I have a 1.2tsi elegance octavia with the Bolero radio system and MFD.

Hello fellow country person.emoticon-0148-yes.gif

I too found this to be very annoying as have many other members on here.

It has been asked several times but i am not sure if an answer has been suggested.

By sheer accident 2 days I discovered this works.

When you turn on your ignition and here the connecting bing... IMMEDIATELY turn the volume down.. watch the screen of the bolero and you will see the green bar dropping volume and next to it you will see phone.. This drops the volume of the BING..

if you are too slow you will only turn the radio/stereo down so try again and be quick

Let me know how it goes.

Thats right, but it also lowers the sound of the person you are speaking to as well......annoying.

I did have a rummage through the Bolero on SWMBO's Yeti with VCDS in an attempt to reduce or kill the annoying chime from connecting a phone. I couldn't find anything obvious but will have another look in due course.

The worst thing is the chime is directly linked to the call volume which is plain silly.

Mine doesn't beep on connection or disconnection? Perhaps its your phone....but neither my Blackberry or Nokia does this. Try putting your phone on silent and connecting?

It's not the phone, it's the Bolero unit making the noise irrespective of handset or ringing volume.

My Superb's Bluetooth doesn't do this but its via a Columbus rather than a Bolero which suggests to me it's a Bolero only 'feature'.

I have had/got both, it isn't....

Is/was your Bolero the 2011 type? No matter what we try, this stupid bong cannot be turned off. There is no setting for it in the Bolero menu and the phone is nothing to do with it.

My car is April 2010 so whatever Bolero was in that..i presume that it is the same...how do you tell?! I know that it didn't beep at all because sometimes i will press phone on the Bolero/Columbus to check that it is connected. Also i know because the Nokia CK-7W in the Bora used to do my head in with the connection beep on my Nokia.

Have you tried a different phone just to rule it out because i have just thought i connected a Samsung Galaxy S up the other week to test to see if it works with RSAP. Perhaps it could be your bluetooth module as mine is only RSAP.....The newer ones have AFP i think?

Nope.....I've just replaced the RSAP only with the latest 5NO rev D module and no bong on connection, neither was there on the previous unit with a Bolero
