Estate hatch keeps unlocking itself?

Featured Replies

Hello,

Just got a new problem... :(

The hatch on my estate keeps unlocking when I'm driving. It unlocks leaving it semi latched and the only way to open it is by crawling in the back and doing it manually. The servo seems to randomly open the catch, it moves in and out a few times and then stops - seems to be happening randomly?

I've checked the wires and the catch itself seems to operate OK - it's almost like the servo has developed a mind of it's own?

I ideas?

thanks in advance,

Mark.

Have you taken the trim off the inside of the tailgate to see if there is screenwash leaking onto the latch motor?

Might also be worth checking for leaking screenwash at the joint in the pipe above the CD changer on the left hand side of the boot. If the joint splits, water leaks onto the connector blocks in that area.

...or you may just have a faulty motor, but I'd check the above first.

Seconded. Those, or a leak where the wiper spindle passes through the tailgate, were my immediate thoughts.

Thanks for replying. :-)

I've got the panel off and all appears to be dry? I've checked all connections including the one's tucked in the door panel and they're all clean with no corrosion?

There's no key or manual way to open it. There are two wires to the motor, two to the switch that's activated by the lever outside & two wires to the catch itself - I'm guessing the two to the catch are for open door detection, They all go back into the loom. Are they connected to any relays anywhere that maybe the cause?
