Spark Plug change mileage?

Featured Replies

What mileage do the spark plugs need to be changed? I have a missfire on cyclinder 1 which i replaced the one coil pack and with in 15 seconds of driving the misfire moved to cyclinder 2. So im wondering if spark plugs need changing along with all 4 coil packs.

Car has just done over 100k and i looked through the service history and it doesnt show them ever being replaced.

Car is driving like a bag of spanner and misfired and judders.

I assume we aren't talking about your old diesel Astra! (still on your profile). Plugs surely must have been changed by 100K on your VRS?

Should have been changed at 40K, 80K service if not then pull one out and have a look at it, if the nose and electrode look worn you need a set!

Well car. Has full service history along with reciepts from new. Nothing to show they have been changed. I did remove 1 and the end was black and looked dirty. Are The gaps pre set. Going to put in new coil packs and Plugs. Hopfully thathat Will Solve problem

My service book says 90,000 km for the vrs 60,000 km for the fsi

Personally I change the plugs every 10,000 miles.

Change them every year it's not as though your buying fuel injectors !!emoticon-0148-yes.gif

I'd certainly change the plugs before the coil pack(s)....I'm assuming they aren't even "service" parts!

Well toped up wtih oil changed all spark plugs and coil packs and car is now running fine again. Question is there car ment to be run on 98 octane?

If its the TFSi. The general consensus is that it should be run on 98+ ron. I always run mine on Tesco momentum as my car responds better than it does with V-Power. There are also people on here on that only run their cars on 95 ron and say they have no issues. The car is designed to run on both types of fuel but you will see less power using the 95 ron. Plus I get more mpg with 99 ron and the extra outlay in price is very minimal.
