engine number query

Featured Replies

hi all, just wondering if someone could perhaps shed some light on this one :S

bought my octy 19tdi about a month ago, checked the sticker in the boot- reckons it has the ahf engine... today the v5 has come through and the engine number on it ends in asv???

problem is the engine number (thanks to years of rust :( ) on the engine is completely unreadable- looks like it has rusted off..

up until the v5 i thought it was the ahf engine, now with this new asv code im not too sure- it could have had a replacement and the dvla notified??

both asv and ahf are 110.. (so thats not too bad)

is this gonna be a complete nightmare when ordering parts? timing belts/gaskets etc? (a few years ago- i replaced a head for an audi a4- and there were tons of engine codes to choose from.. all different :( made life an absolute nightmare )

any thoughts??
