Bluetooth version of OEM Yeti BT kit?

Featured Replies

As the title says: does anyone know the bluetooth version of the OEM bluetooth kit for the Yeti?

I spoke to Samsung about the problem I've been having with my new GT-B2710 continually dropping the connection. They have now told me that the phone's bluetooth is version 2.0 and this must not be compatible with the car's bluetooth. If that's the case then it's Samsung's loss because it's their phone that'll be going back to the retailer, not the Yeti!

Frankly it seems daft if a later version of bluetooth can't interoperate with earlier versions.

Having done a bit more digging, I am now convinved that the Samsung representative was talking a load of p1sh. He said my phone uses bluetooth 2.0; Samsung's own web site says it's bluetooth 2.1. He said that that was why it wouldn't work with my car; my previous phone was bluetooth 2.0 and worked fine with the car. Wikipedia says that 2.0 (which was introduced in 2004) and 2.1 are backwards compatible with 1.2.

Why do companies employ ignorant monkeys to lie to their customers?

I feel an official complaint coming on...
