DRL's on an 08 Octy

Featured Replies

Ok I know you can activate Scandanavian DRL's and the other one (name escapes me) but can you activate the front fog lights to run as DRL's on a MkII MY08 Octavia? I believe you can as I've seen someone with a MkII Octy Sport with them activated. The only thing is he had his sidelights on when I saw him and I totally forgot to ask. I even believe from what I once saw written that you could adjust the brightness at which they run.

So who can confirm or deny all this??

Anyone?

if he had the sidelights on, then he was running with the fog lights switched on and not DRLs. DRLS run with no lights on at all, and should dim when sidelights or headlights are switched on.

As far as I am aware its not possible to use the fogs as DRLS, as they are inherently designed for use in fog and dazzle other road users. Fog lights are 55W, whereas DRL's are 21W.

I hope it's not possible! As that would be really annoying to other road users...

And technically illegal as well, as the car would effectively be turning your foglights on for you automatically.... when it isn't foggy.

Apparently you could set the brightness to your liking. They weren't bright. I've noticed just lately a few cars with fog lights activated as DRL's (as in they were lit but no other lights were - one was a fiat and I think I've seen an Audi) I've tried to PM him but it he can't accept them

If it was a Fiat 500 , they look like fogs as they are in that area but are DRLs , most 500s do not spec fogs but if you look at pictures of high spec ones they are further down below the bumper strip either side of the grill you need to look close -

Simbo is correct and has remembered all the facts but yet no one is owning up to knowing how to do this!!
