New Devon Member!

Featured Replies

Hi everybody,

New member here from Devon, currently two years through a 3 year lease on a VW Touran, but now the kids are getting older and we no longer need a 7 seater, and after years of wanting one I have decided that my next car will be an Octavia VRS, just need to decide whether to have new or one a couple of years old.

I am going to get mine from my local VW dealer as they are attached to the local Skoda dealer and having an extremely good relationship with my VW dealer they have agreed to deal with my purchase.

So I know that I have to wait 12 months before I can have it, but with the long waiting times I am probably going to start doing the deal in July/August, probably going to spec maxi-dot, MDI, rear sensors, heated seats and cant decide about leather or not, as for colour, really fancy yellow but also like black, love white cars but the white ocatvia just doesnt do it for me.

As for engine, I probably do about 10K per year and have had diesels for the last few years, so fancy a petrol this time, whats the petrol like etc??

Just need to have one for a weekend in a few months to make sure its suitable (my wife is disabled and the car needs to be comfortable etc and you cant gauge that on a 30 minute test drive!), have had VW for many years now, but really fancy the step over to Skoda seems great value for money, lets just hope the VAT offer is on still when I come to order!!!

Our current cars are a 58 plate VW Touran in biscay blue 1.9TDI SE great car, does what it says on the tin, and also a 2 week old VW New Beetle convertible 1.6 in white thats our summer toy!!!

Anyway, look forward to becoming an active member on here, and learning loads in teh meantime!!!

James

Welcome.

I am too from Devon, South Devon actually as people do not realise what a huge country Devon and North Devon is almost a different universe to S.Devon. I lived in Exeter, South Hams and Plymouth area.

We have had around 20 VAG cars, Audis, SEATs and Skodas but never actually a VW.

New TSIs are a revelation. Good fuel consumption and sparkling performance.

Petrols are under the No VAT Offer so you can get a 200 hp Octavia VRS for less than £18K compared to £25K for the equivalent Golf GTI. I went for the 1.8 TSI DSG L&K which for £19K is loaded to the gunells with kit.

Dealers are usual great in my experience.

A38 and across the moors are some of my favourite roads and folks still live in Devon so go down often.

Again welcome.

I'm a Devonian, well, not strictly true, but lived here almost longer than I lived in the Midlands before moving down here. Love the area!

HI and welcome aboard.
