Beam Benders

Featured Replies

I need to use them for driving abroad, but the Fabia's headlamps don't have the correct markings for the placement, in fact, they have no markings. Where do they need to be placed please?

I'm planning on using headlamp protectors too, would this make any difference?

Cheers guys and girls

when i went over at christmas out of the lines of Brit cars queuing for the boat, i was the only person to get out & put the beam things on.....(this is as dusk so was dark when we'd crossed...)

I'm not encouraging you to not bother, but it made me wonder why i did....

I'll put them on here at home now, I'm going to be making lots of trips to France soon, every blinking weekend, the ferry companies are gonna love me.

I just want to avoid the French police, I'm not planning on driving in the dark but you never know what may happen.

That's my general opinion..."why should i? but hmmm if i get nobbled...."

You don't need to be driving at night, just in very poor weather conditions and like most French motoring offences you can be fined on the spot if they stop you. :thumbdwn:

If you are making that many trips why not consider buying two sets of headlamp protectors and fitting Halfords Beam benders to one set. The instructions show clearly where they fit. I use two sets all the time as they only take about 60 seconds to swap. I've probably saved the cost of the covers by not having to keep buying beam benders; and no damaged headlights

Now that is a good idea!

The instructions are based on the idea that the headlamps have the etched markings on, which Fabia's dont have.

I go to Germany a lot and the beam deflectors that I usually get have a diagram of where to place them on the Fabia. I'm sure that they are not a legal requirement though and that would only come in to force if your stay was to be a certain length of time 60 days rings bells but i would have to check.

The Halfords beam benders I use on swmbo's furby are product code 151225 (Clear) and the instructions show how to place the bender in relation to the dipped headlight bulb as viewed from the front (Diagram 2) They are specifically for clear headlights or ones with markings that do not have a sloping baseline
