Hi ive been on here alittle while but thought about time i posted

im looking to change the wifes mondeo soon and she likes the octavia.

Whats the fuel consumption really like on the 2.0 vrs petrol are they that bad? is do go for the diesel again

is a 35mpg average really achievable with the petrol

I think it will definitly be a vrs its just whether i go diesel or petrol

I drive a 2010 diesel Octy VRS and average around 45-50 mpg drops a bit when i decide to play :)

I'd say it depends on your annual mileage as to whether the diesel will save you money. I work just over 20 miles from my house with a mixture of dual and single carriageway roads. As long as I drive at about the speed limits, I can average about 45 mpg. I have seen over 52 mpg on a long motorway run. If I enjoy all of the performance, I average about 36 - 38 mpg.

I tried a petrol and a diesel before I bought mine and although the petrol is quicker off the mark in the traffic light grand prix, the torque of the diesel absolutely makes up for it in everyday driving, in my opinion.

i am definitly a diesel fan like u say once you get used to that easy torque from a diesel its hard to go back to petrol
