Help - Electrical Issues on Fabia I 1.9 TDIs

Featured Replies

Ladies and gents,

Thinking of switching back into an old school vRS to get better fuel economy and some extra oomph. (Used to have an 06 plate vRS).

Have been looking around and found references to electical problems with old Fabia I 1.9TDIs. (I believe this is all 1.9s regardless of power.) As far as I can see these are caused by:

1. Wiring from the alternator

2. Bad connections at the earthing points

3. ECU issues (electric windows and mirrors)

4. Water ingress into the wiring loom itself.

This apparently results in anything from occasional visits to the dealer to the replacement of the entire wiring loom.

So, is this true and are these things to watch out for?

Thanks.

Hey there,do you have any idea where all the earthing points are on a fabia,i think there is 5,i can only find 4 of them. The ones i have found are,1 off the battery to the passenger side wheel arch,1 underneath the battery to the passenger side wheel arch,1 on the drivers side wheel arch,1 behind the passengers side rear lighting enclosure.
