Engine issues after timing belt failure.

Featured Replies

I posted a few weeks ago saying the my timing belt had failed and we had a problem with regards to a "misfire" type of scenario whilst accelerating under load. My mechanic had a feeling that maybe the injectors could be damaged/faulty so had them tested. It came back that 2 were indeed faulty so they were disposed of and 2 new injectors fitted yesterday. Unfortunately the problem still persists and I'm really getting ****ed off waiting to get my car back.

Does anyone have any ideas? I've been thinking it could well be a mapping issue but could be totally wrong.

Help help help!!

Has it been timed up correctly? Is the garage vag based?

might be a stupid question but are they handling the nozzles of the injectors before there fitting them. even just rubbing your finger along the nozzle can block them up.

other than that double check timing is correct and check air flow meter.

Check the wiring to the injectors. It runs inside the cam cover and these have been known to fail. I would expect this to be even more likely if the harness has been disturbed, for example during a rebuild....

Timing is spot on so we have ruled that out. Will get the air flow meter checked to see if that is the problem. Never thought of the wiring harness to the injectors were that fragile, next on the check list then.

Silly question but do these engines have crank/cam shaft pick up sensors?

Any fault codes recorded?

My mechanic has just sent me the following:

Injector harness looks ok. The car runs ok in 1st and 2nd and u can drive thru the misfire in other gears if u keep it goin.

Anyone got any ideas?

it might look ok but there could be a break in the wires somewhere. i know its not what you want to hear but may be worth throwing it on and see if it cues the fault as its a cheapish part from memory.

hope it gets sorted.

did he reset the injector seat gap up after thay had the head off coz can corse problems if he hasant very inportent that the gap is right
