cooling fan running

Featured Replies

the cooling fan is running continuously even from a cold start and engine is not fully reching operating temperature.

I have found the sensor in the radiator and want to know the easy way to remove the electrical connector to check if the fan still runs with the sensor disconected. I am assuming that if the fault is the control unit the fan will still run with the sensor disconected.

Have searched the forum but cannot find what Iam looking for.

Can anyone please help with advice on the problem and how to get the darned connector off the sensor?

Also have a fault code 17544 that clears and then comes back after a few miles. I am assuming that the cool engine temp may be the cause.

are you sure it's not the air con fan that's running?

not sure about anything these days mike.

Both radiator cooling fans kick in a few seconds after start up even when cold.

turn the air con completely off and check again.

exactly right mike. Fans do not run when air con off.

Does this mean all is normal and I am just looking for a fault that is not there or is it more complex?

sounds like it mate.

Mine do this aswell but its my bigger fan that runs the whole time not the smaller one think someone said on here that its the smaller fan that should run when the air con is off, am i right in saying that if the climate control is on auto aswell will that make the fan run the whole time?

Meant to say it runs when the air con is on not off

Sounds fine to me, both fans run all the time above 4 degrees or so. When the climatroic is set to Eco or turned off all togther then the smaller fan will stop, the larger fan will spin faster when its required to cool the engine. The temp problem may be a broken coolent temp sensor located on the right side of the engine (airbox side) Easy fix but make sure its sealed correctly there a bugger to get back in.
