White Sludge in Oil Filler Cap

Featured Replies

Have had my Fabia vRS only 4 days and covered just 100 miles so far. Was looking under the bonnet today and took the oil filler cap off and noticed some white sludge in there. Alarm bells started ringing as I'm thinking the head gasket has already gone (no coolant loss though and the car seems to drive ok). It has been driven carefully as I'm running it in so I'm hoping it's just a bit of condensation down to the time of the year, new engine, short journeys etc.

Anyone out there who can throw any light onto this or preferably put my mind at ease?

I'd say its got to be condensation.

Might well be from where the car has been moved about starting and stopping prior to delivery.

I would have to agree with ross, head gasket should be alright, bt if in doubt.... get to the dealer :-)

:woohoo:

Get to use my picture again...

Does it look like this:

If so, it seems to be a fairly common amount on most VAG cars!

I'd be more worried if you had "mayonnaise" on the dipstick...

Rob.

don't worry m8 because my step son (3 fs jnr) just told me vat all vag vehicles have this sort of problem.
