Featured Replies

hi i have a 51 plate octavia vrs on coilovers its been fine but started to get a noise like the o,s front wheel bearing is on its way out so booked it in to get that done but lastnight i come off a roundabout steering slightly left and got a horrid grinding noise from the same front wheel and keep getting it when ever i turn left ? i had a look and the driveshaft is marked where the anti roll bar go's over the top? what could be causeing this please help lol

Some coilovers need shortened drop-links to stop the driveshaft and ARB interfering I think. What coilovers do you have?

there raceland coilovers i thought i would need longer 1's to stop the shaft toutching the ARB?

Does the ARB go over or under the drive shaft? Can't remember off the top of my head but I thought it went over. Longer ones would force the ARB lower so closer to the drive shaft. Shorter ones will pull it up out of the way. I seem to remember something about Mondeo ones being shorter and fitting but others would need to confirm.

I would doubt that the Drive shaft is hitting the ARB if you have a VRS as the ARB is under the drive shaft and not over it like none VRS models. Unless you have lowered it 50mm then the drive shaft maybe in contact. There are not shorther links for the VRS like the none VRS cars and Golfs as staed that are not needed.

I would look elsewhere for the problem like suspecting the Drive shaft making the noise, as certainly if you get noise turning is a good sign of CV joint wear.

In which case your car has the WRONG anti roll bar as the VRS goes UNDER the driveshaft full stop!!

Maybe someone has changed it at some point for an uprated one, then sold their standard one and fitted a Golf Bar to sell the car on?

Or maybe a Crap garage has fitted the wrong one after the original rusted?

Either way you can get a vrs/s3/tt Front anti roll bar for about £30 second hand which will cure your problem
