Remap Problems Octavia Vrs 2010/11

Featured Replies

Hi all

Can anyone help with this queery.

My present VRS was bought in may 2009 just prior to the facelift edition it came with the TSI engine and the facelifted dash. I struggled to get it remaped at the time having approached Jabbasport twice and they were not able to do it. Eventualy it was remaped by Revo who explained it was a new ecu that had made it not possible for Jabbasport to remap.

I am about to order a new Octavia VRs and have been informed by someone today that Revo cannot remap this vehicle!!! Has anyone got any info on this please.

:)

The current ECUs are heavily protected against being remapped. They contain a security key that even with todays processing power will take many years to overcome, thats not to say they cannot be remapped as they can be. To remap one of these newer ecus it must be bench flashed, that means removing it from the car and dismantling it and attaching a special board within the ECU. This means that the OBD security is bypassed and the chip is flashed directly, it also means that your warranty is at risk becuase it will be possible to see that the ECU has been tampered with.

There is at least one tuner on here who has the kit to bench flash the ECU, and thats Shark Performance. Revo dont have the kit as they would have to provide many sets to all their franchisees, but others may have as well.

Revo do have the kit but AFAIK you still have to go down to Daventree for it to be done.....Shark can definately do it though :0)

I have a Snow monster and documented the process. If you look in the Yeti section a few pages back for SM CR140 DSG being remapped.

Ben at Shark performance has done quite a few now. Best give him a ring.

If I find my thread I'll post it again. I know mine is a Tdi, but the Tsi's are similar.

Interested to hear that Jabbasport couldn't do your 2009 car. We have remapped countless facelift TSIs and are yet to come across a protected one, even at brand new.
