Sfs Turbo Hoses Issues Being Resolved, new hose fitted woohoo

Featured Replies

Yes standard EGR - no bypass (what are the benefits in the bypass? Any gains?)

Hose end piece looks like the one below.

Turbo fitting came from my father in law - toolmaker extraordinaire (55 years experience!)

The first pic is the SFS manufactured connector. The turbo connector is similar...but different to this and on the car so tricky to get a pic.

do you think your father in law can make a complete bottom pipe

Thats exactly what i need. Wonder if SFS would sell the connectors seperately. Dont fancy shelling out £200+ for the top hose

i can still keep the fancy top hose lol, got a 60-51 reducer to go on the map pipe sitting here ready so hopefully will mate up fine i hope lol

I'll update you here anyway mate, as I'm on my phone.

Just fitted my new top pipe (In gloss black, not a fan of Stainless Steel look), and all my pipework/clamps/bolts/brackets are here.......

BAR my custom built map sensor pipe! I reckon if it comes this week though, I'll be fitting it the weekend 2nd of April (Sorry for the delay).

I think making the entire pipe is a 'pipe bender's' job, I did my own by using 2 90 deg and 1 45 deg pipes with couplers to suit the 63mm piping.

The turbo connector was a one off to mate up with the rest of the 63mm piping. I think it wouldn't be too sensible to make up an all in one as there may be some discrepancies in dimensions - intercooler position for example may not be the exact same on all cars? You would need some flexibility to allow for tolerances (a piece of silicone with a joiner either end to allow for movement). It is also a bit of a precision fit - trying to avoid the driveshaft and the wheel at the bottom end of the belts - as well as working around the inner arch section. Took a few nips and tucks to get the fit right to avoid all of the 'barriers' mentioned above.

If you wanted a 'turbo coupler' in 63mm - or less - I could ask him if he can help out. (and please - if I am on the dark side of policy here would a moderator put me right?)

nice  ill have to have a look when i come to pick up the intercooler, sounds very nice, so have you gone for the seat sport cooler with the custom pipes?

Excuse my ignorance but are you guys saying that the kit is the wrong diameter at 63mm or Trevor's proposed replacement 60mm bottom pipe. I just ordered the kit (£199 btw) and am stressed that it might be a one way ticket to lag central....

nah just that the bottom pipe metal one is not needed to be any bigger, the top hose and bottom hose in the kit i have not noticed any such lag

Just off to buy some axle stands so I can fit the bottom pipe. If that doesn't work i'm going to drive off a cliff...

Anyone know of any one who knows their fabias in the High Peak area just in case? I'm willing to drive to Sheffield or Manchester too :'( :'( :'(

Did you remove the o ring seal from the OEM connector and fit it to the new connector?
