Iso Wiring Harness Adapter

Featured Replies

Hi

I have a 2006 Superb with a Rhapsody stereo. It also has an amp fitted. I am fitting a Pioneer AVH 3300bt and I am having a couple of issues. I was told that the correct Harness adapter is a PC2-75-4. One problem is that there is no ignition cut off. The two feeds have 12v even when the ignition is off. After some checking I am now told I need a PC9-4?? harness and that I have to take an ignition feed from the fuse board.

Also how does the Rhapsody turn off with the ignition ?????

What is the correct harness adapter for this setup?

Might pay to visit an audio technician..he might just have the right adaptor and know how to make your ice work

I've got an AVH 3100 in my Passat, I used the same harness as you, it's branded for a BMW on mine but it is the correct one, however you will probably be getting a flat battery by now if you don't use the car for a few days as it never goes off how you have it now, there are three solutions to this, none of which I can confirm work,

1 - A connects2 VW002 harness, this has a can box on it and is supposed to emulate the canbus in the car

2 - Break the red wire apart on the radio and go to a switched live on the fusebox, this will mean no key no radio

3 - Upgrade the car canbus, you will need to chat to Skoda for this I'm afraid, cos I will only be guessing the procedure.

The battery drain is caused cos the original radio is part of the alarm circuit, and the canbus goes looking for the radio which it can't find.

HTH.

How does the unit perform mate, if you play a DivX file from the SD card does the lipsync stay in or do you end up with the mouth moving and then the sound a few seconds later.

Hi

Will probably go for the option of sourcing an ignition feed from the fuse box. Was talking to an audio specialist and he said this is what they do for most of the Skoda/Vws that have this issue.

The unit itself performs well. Plays DivX movies from the SD card very smoothly. The integrated Parrot bluetooth is excellent, very clear and no problem seeing the contacts ( HTC Desire )The sound quailty is a significant improvment over the Rhapsody unit.

Certainly are, I messed up, as I was in a hurry and didn't want to mail off for one, I got mine in a local specialist shop, I didn't realise it wouldn't play video from anything other than disc, however sound quality is brilliant, so much so I read one user saying he'd ditched his amp cos it made no difference, the units themselves are made for a Passat, well they aren't really, but everyone asks if mine came with the car when they get in, it looks kinda OEM, especially as you can choose from 115 colours, have you put a logo file into it yet so the screen shows a car badge, you do it by loading an image into it and then selecting it in the colours and backgrounds section, looks good, but overall I wish I'd known of the AVH 3200BT model as that would've ticked all my boxes, this is the model yours has replaced, I was worried that an Android would struggle with the tooth tbh, my X10 isn't listed as compatible yet, been trying to sell it on for £250, got plenty who want it, got none who have any money though.

Hi

Well after a few months I had to remove the Pioneer unit and put the orignal unit back in. The big problem was the radio reception. It was crap in areas that had a weak signal. I tried a couple of antenna adapters but this didnt make much difference.I contacted Pioneer but they were not very helpfull saying that it was an issue with the car which is correct but I was looking for a solution to the problem. The superb has a 12v feed to the antenna and these adapters are designed to supply this voltage but they dont work as well as the orignal radios that are fitted and supply their own feed.

It was terrible driving up and down the country and listening to poor radio reception. There is a lot of topics on the web about this problem but not a lot of answers. I am fitting a Parrot MKi9200 instead.

It seems to be the ariel end that goes into the unit that breaks down, shame you've had to take it out now though, how much was it when you bought it, I sold mine in the end to a mate and replaced it with the original RCD300 and hooked a Connects2 box that tricks it into thinking it's talking to a cd changer, and then hooked a 7 inch media player to that, still thinking of getting another though, and the Pioneer AVH 3300BT or a Kenwood DDX4028 are top of the list right now as I want a handsfree solution in the dash.

I will go down the route of a Connects2 box and a parrot kit. I tried a number of adapters and even put a filter on the 12v side just in case there was interference but the result was the same. I also tried an adapter without a 12v supply and the reception was terrible.Where I live the signals can be weak and this will test any unit.

Other than the radio reception the rest of the features are brilliant. The integrated Parrot bluetooth worked fine ( HTC Desire s ) and has great features that can be controlled from the touch screen. It can play most types of movies from a SD card or usb key. Easy to see in day light and it dims with the lights.

When you say most films, did you have issues with some loading or keeping the lip sync in line at all, it's only supposed to play DivX and DVD and DVD-VR mode iirc, but my 3100 had real issue's with most DivX unless I converted it down to V5 or lower, any info appreciated.

It will play any .avi and .divx files from a SD card. Not the divx HD or divx plus format. The most important thing I found was the quality of the SD card. The best result is a SDHC class 6 card.

According to some of the review sites I looked at Pioneer made some changes with the 3300BT to address this issue.

What I did was have 4 films on a disc in the machine for the kids and have my own music on a SD card.

Cheers Jim, that's what I needed to know, Kenwood WVGA it is then, shame though cos the Pioneer range does rather sound good when asked.
