How to wash your car safely without snow foam?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

As we know, snow foam allows you to get the majority of the harmful grit off the car so you don't cause any damage, but what happens if you don't have a Pressure washer, snow lance or access to one?

What other options are there?

I need to get my paint work ready to buff but don't have access to a snow foam setup, so what are my options?

What do you have access to? Maybe you could list your current setup, process, steps etc and we can advise accordingly...

For example, if you have a hose reel and buckets/washmitts etc, you may want to try one of the foam attachments that connects directly to your hose, without need for a pressure washer.

So at the moment I have access to a hose and pressure washer, but a small black and decker one that as far as I can research won't take a snow foam lance.

So I have the usual bucket setup as well, out door power points and the usual sort of bits and pieces.

Get a gilmour, use Valet Pro Orange Pre Wash mixed with water. Use this to apply the pre wash rather than foaming which does'nt do anything, just looks nice!

If you're not able to purchase anything on top of what you already own perhaps make up a couple of buckets of soapy water and throw it over your car then pressure wash off? Just an idea! Although it doesn't half sound a bit err pie key

OK - Gilmour if you want to buy some additional kit and go beyond what you do already.

If not, use the pressure washer to rinse down, then two bucket method and a MF/wool washmitt. Rinse down afterwards then dry with a decent quality drying towel

That 'sticky' Chris linked to earlier has all the info required in it really.
