MDI USB cable with Zune HD?

Featured Replies

Hi folks. My demo model fabia vrs came with mdi connection pre-installed. I have a zune hd music player. The cable's one end in USB which plugs into the laptop for syncing/charging and the other end is a proprietary connections which fits the player itself.

so can I buy the usb mdi cable and use the same sync/charge cable to control the zune hd via my car stereo or is the mdi usb cable only designed for thumb/flash drives? is my only alternative then using the aux cable which is what I am using atm anyway or bluetooth?

Hi, not sure about a Zune. The files are compatible but the CE operating system might not work with MDI.

The MDI will work with Ipods/Walkmans/sticks and hard drives so if you get a USB lead and it doesnt work with the zune, drop the files onto a portable usb hard drive. These work well. Over here we are using Seagate Goflex 250gb drives which are cheap and fit in the slot where the MDI port lives. You need FAT 32 formatting for it to work. Hope this helps.

if the zune appears on your pc as a mass storage device, and you can browse your music in explorer then it may work as long as the files are in MP3 or unprotected WMA format. The Zune was never sold in Europe, only certain markets.
