How was the 1.9PD detuned ?

Featured Replies

Hi,

From searching it seems the 2.0PD engine has a few issues so I think I'd get the 1.9PD but as I currently have a 130PD I would want more power.

Was it just the mapping changed or does it have a different turbo etc from the 130bhp Mk1 Octavia ?

Thanks

If I remember rightly its a different turbo/injectors & map. The PD105 is easily upgraded to 130bhp by a remap

I've gone from the PD130 mk1 to a PD140 mk2 and the pd140 is so much nicer to drive, Yes some owners have had issues with the pd140 (myself included) but thats just part of owning a car.

PD140 is 16 valve compared to the 1.9TDI unit which will make the engine more flexible, 2.0 TDI has a 6 speed box too.

In fairness the only real reliability/longevity issue with the PD140 in the Octy is the turbo. They seem reasonably bullet proof otherwise.

Some of the very early PD140s suffered with cracked aluminium cylinder heads, these went to a revision B then onto a revision C around 2007, the C variant has been pretty much OK since. Other than the head and the turbo they are ok and respond well to remapping.
