Mystery Diagnostic Code (05560)

Featured Replies

Hi,

I've got a basic CAN memoscanner from ebay and read my Mk 2 Octavia's diaganostic codes, they make sense to me but I can't find any mention on here, Google or Ross-tec of code 05560.

Anyone know what it is?

From memory, I believe this is a problem with one of the glowplugs or its circuit.

That would make sense, the other code it's throwing up is 17057 which I have been able to find as glow plug cylinder 3.

VCDS might say...

17057/P0673 - Cylinder 3 Glow Plug Circuit (Q12): Electrical Fault

...but 05560 makes little sense as a fault code for this car/engine.

I've had this 'fault code' reported by several customers using various (Chinese) ODBII scanners. As you know, the code is not even in range, so shouldn't exist. I have only seen it reported with a glowplug fault.

VCDS doesn't report the code when the same car is scanned.

Yep, you get what you paid for. :)
