Road Angel 2 - is it easy to hard wire?

Featured Replies

Anyone had a go at this themselves and what do I need to do?

For the hassle it involves it is actually 30 quid well spent.

Is the OriginB2 also a hassle? And the Solo version?

Do you want a spotty youth taking your dash apart?

You just want to find a switched live, possibly on the back of the radio.

Much more satisfying doing it yourself

didn't look that difficult when I had mine fitted. wouldn't get the solo one. He put the GPS reciever under where the speedo clocks are inside the the dash.

Why not the Solo? Can the receiver function properly inside the dash?

Surely the Solo will be a better buy now? Seeing as you'll soon be chancing it using the radar detection features, when the ban comes into effect.

I too asked that, he said when fitting it thats where they also put the satnav reciever for sattalitle tracking systems.

Solo, not as versitile as the cradle has to be located so it can get a signal, where as the normal one can be located anywhere.

Yes, on my Ocry vRS. Un pluged the two wires from the ciggy lighter and made a connection using new spade connectors/wires/road angle wires. then pluged the original wires back into the new wiring, took about 15mins

did you wire it into the fuse box where the headlight switch is?

No, just used an inline fuse the same rating as the one in the original ciggy adaptor that came with road angle, think it was either 3 or 5 amp.

So how do you control when the b2 comes on? as the fag lighter is powered all the time.

Ahhhh, thought we were talking about the Road Angle 2 as stated by Fabia TDI in the first thread.... (Crossed wires... ) The power lead on the Road Angle 2 just plugs in the back so you can still take it out.

Bought 3 amp inline fuse so will locate suitable power source and fit myself. Thinking about it it seems easy enough to do.

Cheers all.

I wonder if some kind person would do a walk through with maybe a couple of photo's on how to take a live feed for the origin / roadangel. I'm probably the least practical person in the whole world and my origin is still just a pile of wires on the passengers floor after having it for 3 months. I currently use the gf as a docking station for it but that only works for as long as she is awake. :o

Just make sure it's a switched live that you find else your detector will be powered up all the time.
