Anyone noticed this?

Featured Replies

I have the esteemed Columbus in my Octy and it is simply flawless, I play a lot of music and am a massive music fan - some of my early iTunes downloads are 128bit natively and I have been listening to them lately, and they break down a lot under volume and it is muffled with distortion, it is fine with CD quality music however.

I tell you how I noticed this, I plugged my Palm Pre into the aux socket as I had some music I had saved in a playlist on my Spotify account (phone has a Spotify app), and played a track and was like.... :o

I have it set to high bit rate, and it was just beautiful! Clear defined bass, crisp vocals - like I was sitting in a car with an upgraded sound system at several hundred pounds! (I feel guilty posting this as my brother has a Superb and the speakers aren't great from what he's said)

So I put some high bit rate mp3s (320kbps) on an SD card, and went out and played them, and it wasn't as clear as the "High Bitrate" option on Spotify... So I played an iTunes track on my iPad through the aux, and that was fab too... So is it that the Columbus is poor at handling and decoding mp3s for fidelity? Or something else?
