I was wondering if anyone has experience of installing an aftermarket alarm on an Octavia (Oct II FL).

Was looking about and there are CAN BUS based ones for the octavia on ebay for example for reasonable money.

I'd like to do this myself if possible.

It depends largely on your ability to read wiring diagrams and also solder + heat shrink wires together to an acceptable standard. You also need to be able to plan somewhere suitable to install it (difficult for thieves to access), pass wires through to engine bay for siren, and install sensors and adjust appropriately. If you are not 100% certain what you are doing it is quite easy to cause damage to electrical systems and have an alarm that goes off when nothing is happening to the car.
