The Detail Process:

The car was sitting on it's A6 wheels and winter tyres and have been recently refurbed with some Skoda Centres stuck over the top, with this there was little point to remove them so the cleaning of the wheels was quick and easy as they had been sealed with 2 coats of FK1000p.......thumb.gif (likewise the 18" Luna's have also been given this same treatment and will go back on the car when the weather improves)

Not many pictures here as Jules was chatting.........laughing.gif

Wheels were cleaned with Megs APC, Vikan Long Reach Brush and the Daytona Wheel Brush along with the arches being cleaned with some Megs APC and a Vikan Arch Brush:

The car was washed using Powercraft Pressure Washer, Snow Foam with HD Elite Lance, 2BM consisting of Megs Hyper Wash, Megs Buckets and Gritguards and Lambswool Wash Mitts.

Rinsing first:

The car was then foamed and with some Megs APC and a Detailer Brush the Petrol Cap, Door Shuts and Boot Shut were aggitated:

The car was then rinsed and re-foamed, then washed using the 2BM, wash bucket first:

Washed a few panels:

Rinse bucket and then the process was repeated:

Simon then rinsed the car again:

Simon then decided to attend to the engine bay, this was rinsed:

DSC09051.jpg

This was then sprayed with Megs APC and aggiated with a Detailer Brush:

DSC09052.jpg

This was rinsed down and then Jules and Simon decided to clay the car with some Megs Last Touch and Elite Fine Yellow Poly Clay:

Some reasonable contaminants on the lower panels:

Simon then showed show me the strength of AS tardis and quicken up the process and used it on some of the lower panels:

The car was rinsed again and Jules applied some Megs Last Touch:

At this point we moved the car inside........car.gif

Jules wasted no time working on the interior using some Megs APC, Megs Slide Lock Brush and a Microfibre Cloth:

This was also followed by some Planet Polish Plastic Fantastic via and Applicator Pad:

She also cleaner and conditioned the seats with some Gliptone Leather Cleaner and Conditioner via some Applicator Pads:

Then she gave the exhaust a once over with some Autosol, Wire wool and a Microfibre Cloth:

Meanwhile Simon had been working on the paintwork.

The car was just a month old but had been washed little and the wash technique had been the 2BM so Simon struggled to find many marks on the car at all:

DSC09065.jpg

The main areas that had some marks on were the B-Pillars as follows:

DSC09075.jpg

Here Simon used a small backing plate and 3M Blue Finishing Pad with some Megs 205:

DSC09082.jpg

This combination was also used all over the paintwork but on a large backing plate and pad:

DSC09073.jpg

With the car then back outside it was time for a rinse down:

DSC09085.jpg

DSC09086.jpg

Megs Last Touch applied:

Then dried with a Waffle Weave Drying Towel:

DSC09089.jpg

With the car back inside again it was time to do some finishing touches, Jules applied some 303 Aerospace Protectant to the engine bay:

DSC09091.jpg

Meanwhile Simon was working on the paintwork, he had not used this for a while so time to break out the Zaino, first up an application of some Z-AIO via an Applicator Pad:

DSC09092.jpg

Followed up by a Z6 Wipedown:

Jules then applied the first coat of Z2 via an Applicator Pad:

DSC09098.jpg

After the 2nd coat it was time for another Z6 Wipedown followed by a final Z8 wipedown:

Megs Hyper dressing was applied to the arches:

DSC09094.jpg

AS Highstyle applied to the tyres via a paintbrush:

DSC09095.jpg

All glass internally and externally cleaned with some Megs Glass Cleaner and Glass Cleaner Cloths:

Windscreen obviously with the Windschield Wonder:

I was dreading the trip back - especially as believe it or not the car was actually jet washed off the night before I took it the 200 miles to the detail! however despite the roads still being quite damp on the way home, the car still looked amazing when I got back.:rofl:

Oh yes VERY

This was the reason I decided to travel all the way up to them, Simon did however give me the contact details of a couple of detailers MUCH more local to me. but I have been so impressed with all the previous details they have done I was set on who was going to do the car

Where are they based?

  • Author

They are up in Northamptonshire, but they use a site in Redditch also (where mine was done) and I believe they will sometimes travel to you (distance depending) providing you have a suitably large enough garage / unit that can be used to detail the car in.

I'm sure Simon will correct any of this if I have made a mistake, you could PM him for a quote and to discuss the location.

. . . . . I took it the 200 miles to the detail! . . . .

You took it 200 miles to a car wash? :o

££££££££££££££££££££££££

are you nuts?

Sorry!

Did I say that out loud? :giggle:

Nice clean car though.

I think it was a teeny weeny bit more than just a car wash though :giggle:

Quite possibly yes ,

as I said I could of got it done by someone more local, but personally I would much rather it done by an OCD enthusiast (meant in the nicest way Simon :giggle: ) than someone who does it day in day out as their 'job'.

Looks very nice.

  • 2 weeks later...
