fabia 1.2 petrol, starting problems

Featured Replies

My 03 Fabia 1.2 petrol, is a smashing car most of the time, but for the past few weeks this problem happens. It starts fine first thing in a morning, i drive it for around 2 miles have a short stop then drive for a further 3 miles short stop then back for 3 miles,( sunday shopping trip ) i then leave my car sitting outside for about an hour, when leaving to go home it's refusing to start, i put the key in, turn to start position, all lights come on and go as normal, hear the fuel pump engage, turn to start and it just turns over, it takes up to 10 attempts before it kicks in! This always happens in the same place

Hi,

My partner has a 2007 Fabia 1.2 petrol and she has exactly the same intermittent start problems as Avaminute. My local garage couldn't find anything wrong with it from diagnostics although they experienced the starting problem. I've now taken it to a Skoda dealership assuming they'd be better equipped /experienced with this make and model to identify what's wrong but they too can't find anything from their diagnostic equipment.

It can take a long time to get the car started when it's playing up and we just can't trust it.

Does anyone have any experience of this problem and what might cure it?

The temp sensor seems ok on the display - does this mean it's ok as far as the engine management software is concerned?

Any info greatly received, thanks.

Chris

get the garage to check the timing the timing of the exhaust cam can jump out causing this problem.

Hi

We took the car in to get it diagnosed in the end, they cleared the fault codes and after some head scratching found the problem to be the temp sensor. Real easy to change and a new sensor cost around £23. Since then the car has been good as gold, hope this helps
