Condensation in my new Yeti

Featured Replies

I have been enjoying my new (Oct 2010) Yeti SE TDI, one of the best cars I've driven. I share the poor heater experience mentioned elsewhere which I guess is to do with the low heat production from the diesel engine.

However, I also have huge amounts of condensation, despite running the aircon occassionally along with the albeit feeble heater.

I can't see any obvious wet patches inside but there is a slight musty smell developing.

The car has a panoramic sun roof which also gets pretty wet, also from condensation.

Any suggestions welcome. I can't find the plenum chamber often sighted as a problem.

Thanks, Ian

I would leave the climate control on all the time.

But how is so much moisture getting into the car?

Are you transporting wet dogs or getting in with wet boots a lot?

If there is not a logical reason, maybe you have a defective seal etc...

I had problems like this in my 53 Superb a few years ago, it turned out to be a faulty servo motor operating the recirculation flap. Car was permanantley in recerc.

Thanks. I have now found that the carpet underneath the mat on the passenger foot well is saturated. The mat surface was dry, hence I didn't see it at first.

Vacuumed about half a pint of water and dryed as best I could with a fan heater. Car booked into dealer next week for investigations!

I think rain water is running down from behind the dashboard/glove box area.
