Featured Replies

hi guys

is there a difference in ride height on a mk1 vrs 180bhp and rs 150bhp

cheers

Edited by jonnymk1vrs

Arnt they the same thing

VRS and RS are the same thing both 180 bhp

Only 150 was the other 1.8T's. The VRS/RS is the lowest in the Octi range

having major problems with new coil springs on the front very high supplier keeps reffering to the springs as rs which i know is the less sportier car ie think its the Elegance

The rs or vrs is the same car, some people/companies choose to call it one, some the other

they are the same you probley got springs from a deisal??? is a comin thing the vrs or rs ones should have coloured dots on them...

You can only get springs for the vRS (RS) from a main dealer or TPS, lots of members have had difficulty getting springs from motor factors or getting them changed at the likes of Kwik Fit because they are unable to get the correct parts from their suppliers.

Go to a dealer and you will be able to get the correct springs, and I suspect not much more expensive (maybe even less) than elsewhere.

The vRS was only ever 180BHP, the 1.8T used in the elegance was 150BHP but the suspension is totally different. The only place that the vRS was available in 150BHP was India, and that was because the fuel is of poorer quality.

As everyone has said, the vRS is the RS, and the RS is the vRS!

The RS is only called the vRS in the UK market. The rest of the world correctly market it as the RS.

Since most of the aftermarket suspension comes from Germany, you will see manufacturers list RS under applications, and not the UK only vRS. So you want to buy RS suspension in that case.

What's probably happened is they've sold you the springs from a standard 1.8T car. As Mannyo has said, get the correct springs from the dealer. The fronts are about £70 each though! They should be as follows:

Part No.: 1J0 411 105 AJ (front coil spring for sports type running gear)

Colour coding : 1 violet paint mark, 4 yellow paint marks

Sold as the vRS in the uk as Ford owns the rights to the "RS" name.

they where from andrew page

they where from andrew page

As far as I'm aware Andrew Page don't do a spring specific to the RS.

Off topic...... I hate Andrew Page! The one in Huddersfield is run by the biggest bunch of retards I've ever met. The last time I went I ended up walking out because they were so rude and incompetent. I only buy my parts from GSF or Skoda now.

Ring up your local Skoda dealer and ask for a price on the part number I listed above.

According to an old article I saw somewhere (can't remember where or what), the vRS is 12mm lower than the standard car.

Pages and York motor factors say there is a specialist supplier for Sport springs, ie vrs, vxr, rs etc. Got my rear springs from york motor factors about 6 months back and they are fine, no sign of being higher or softer than standard vrs springs handles perfect aswell. Boxes the springs came in were marked Octy rs think they were TUV stamped.

ALSO the most important thing is the vrs has coloured dots on the springs..... and only the vrs has them

All the Octavia's have coloured dots on the springs. They just have different colours and numbers of dots for the different models. These dot codes are only on the OE springs.

(RS hatch front springs have 1 violet and 4 yellow dots.)
