Faulty Parking Sensor?

Featured Replies

When i put the car into reverse, the front left parking sensor beeps constant and is showing an obstacle on the screen.

Initially thought it was just dirty but have wiped the sensor clean and still does it.

It doesn't do it all the time, just randomly.

Anyone got any suggestions before I faf around booking it into the dealer?

Thanks

Andy

Is it wet?? Tap it and some water might come out.

Have the same problem with my two nearside rear sensors, and car only six months old.

I thought it was water ingress too, but dealer wasn't sure. On their third look at it (problem was intermittent), they found a fault code with those two sensors, and they have agreed to replace them under warranty.

Still waiting as they're on back order!

Good luck getting yours sorted!

Andy, get your car to the dealer. If they say their are no faults found.. Get them to test the sensors direct to make sure they are calibrated correctly, It maybe because that indeed their is some water ingress. or a chip on the sensor its self..Even if the paint is to thick i can have affects

Get them to test the sensors not just for fault codes, They will keep fobbing you off if not.. *already had this issue and lost coin because of it*

Andy,

I dont know how big the front licence plates you have in the UK, but I had the same issue with my new octy because my front licence plate was not centered properly and because of that front sensors were beeping without the reason. Maybe something to check... try to see if you have the same behaviour without front licence plate...

Probably a duff sensor. Out Fabia II (which has the same sensors as the Octy) has already required two new sensors. Conversly my Octavia is fitted with a £20 'Ebay' kit which has worked absolutely perfectly, rain, shine, ice or snow. I'll not spec Skoda parking sensors again...

Thanks for all the replies guys.

Thankfully has stopped playing up now.... did it for a couple of days but that was it. Will see how it goes and when it goes to the dealers for a service will mention it to them to investigate.

Thanks again for all the replies

I have resurrected this thread because I now have this problem with front drivers side sensor.

Is this a common problem?

Did yours stop playing up for good Andy?

I have to confess that since having these I have turned into a right girl's blouse as far as parking is concerned, whereas I used to pride myself on perfect parking I am now really bad at it and haven't a clue where the four corners of the car are !
