Indicator relays known fault?

Featured Replies

I've had my Octavia 1.6 Ambiente for just over 2 years now. Recently, my indicator relay seems to have gone wonky, it is clicking really slow now and I expect that it will pack up completely within a month.

Coworker in the office who got his Octavia the same time as me just recently had to have his hazard light/indicator relay replaced, at a cost of 30 pounds or so. A friend of mine whose Octavia is slightly newer also had to have his indicator relay replaced as well.

Of course the dealer simply says that it is not covered under warranty, as the warranty period is up (only 12 months warranty here in the Caribbean!). I am concerned that 3 of these cars have all had to have the same part replaced roughly around the same time. A part that I expect should last the life of the car. My parents drive two Nissan Sentras over 10 years old that have perfectly working indicator lights!

Is this such a common problem with Octavias?? Will I have to replace this same part AGAIN in 2 years time or less?

My dealer suggests that the 3 of us write the Skoda company in Czech Republic to complain!
