As I was driving on a country Rd at 2am this morning in Castleknock (suburb of Dublin) there was a car (Passat) parked with its haz's on and I thought "bloody strange place to stop", but as I passed him, my car gave a loud bang/jerk and immediately a lot of warning lights flashed on my dash including oil pressure warning, traction, glow plugs and my rev counter dropped to zero but the car was still running. My mobile phone which is dash mounted but not connected to the car in any way switched itself off and back on again as well! The engine sounded fine so I continued and nursed the car home. Engine was still fine but the gearshifts were pretty rough (auto). Got the car home, switched off and restarted the car, no problems restarting and all the was back to normal on the dash! Have not driven the car yet this morning so don't know what the craic is yet. I'm wondering now if something had happened to the Passat too! Any takers?

Its got to be a UFO. Check yourself for signs of "entry" :-)

Hope the car is ok. Get a dealer to check to see if there are any fault codes.

Update.

I gave the car a good check over this morning, nothing amiss or leaking and car seems to be driving ok.

And no signs of alien abduction or "probing" either

Maybe you drove over a broken underground electric cable. Were there any dead racehorses around???

Maybe the passat was a ghost car and you was experiencing a phenomena :peek:

If you can be bothered, take it to a dealer and have them run a diagnostic on it; be interested to hear what the system recorded...
