tailgate latch and invisible actuator..

Featured Replies

hi all, having bought my mk1 octy 1.9tdi 110 saloon about 2 months ago and spending pretty much the two months sorting out all the various gremlins :S decided today was the day for sorting out my tailgate latch. (the previous owner had explined to me at sale that to open tailgate you need to turn key in lock and operate release :S i put this down to a sticky actuator.. and just another thing to look at)

so, i removed the tailgate trim and what did i find?... :o

not alot!! someone had taken the liberty of removing the actuator, so all im left with is a multiplug swinging in the breeze and an actuating rod going nowhere  looking at it- the operating lever moves to a locked position if key not held in 'unlock' tried putting a spring there to stop lever drifting away from release actuating lever- didnt work.

does anyone have a spare latch+actuator they fancy selling me (if so-pm me) or failing that i could probably get away with just the actuator.. although i dont know if any springs etc are missing?
