Briskoda Excellent Site

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone.

Would like to say what an excellent site. I have an 03 Elegance. In the past in happier times I had the servicing done at a dealers. Mitchells near Cheshire oaks who to be fair I thought were very good and helpful. Carl the service manager is a top bloke. Anyway the motor has now done 135k and I've decided to do the service my self. Absolutely no bother, Oil,Air and Fuel filters done. Just been checking how to do the cabin pollen filter which by the way its a lot easier on the girlfriends Golf!

My drivers door locking doesn't work and the wing mirror but after researching on the forum found the moisture ingress issue with the control box on the window motor. Unfortunately on investigation a couple of pins on the plug have snapped off so a bit more complicated than changing the control unit.I thought I was going to get away with the WD40! The forum was excellent in giving me a heads up on getting the door trim off and turned what could have been a nightmare job into a much easier proposition.

Advice I'm after...the timing belt was replaced at 80k. What's its service interval? How much can I get it done for at a decent independent? Any recommendations? Im in Farnborough but anywhere Hampshire will do. Engine code ASV ie the non PD engine. That was a bit confusing ie which oil to use. The car is on QG1,the long life service but i now plan to do oil changes every 12 months. The service issue still confuses me. Do I get a dash readout when stuff needs doing? How does this system work? Can I turn it off? Should I? I do know how to reset the service alarm as the main dealer set it at 10k in error and I reset it.

So its reassuring to find out that other folks have had the same problems with their motors and very handy to get top tips on how to sort stuff out.

Cheers Jonny
