GSF and Castrol edge 5w40

Featured Replies

I am doing a 90k service on the VRS, Are GSF ok to use in quality of filters and belts and what do you think to Castrol Edge 5w-40 "what do you use"...

I only cover 6.000 miles a year, so I service my car myself once yearly, then have car MOT'd immediately afterwards.

Depending on what the cheapest price is asked for, I go for the following.

I use any brand or non-brand filter's, Air+ Pollen+ Fuel+ Oil recently paid from E-Bay £30.00.

With 5W 40 Fully Synthetic engine oil any brand or non-brand.(VW spec 505.01) all usually off E-Bay, recently paid £25.50 for 5 litres.

Every 2 years Brake Fluid change 1 litre DOT 4 spec,, again using brand or non-brand, (E-Bay recently paid £5.98 for 1 litre.

I recently paid £28.50 for a pair of rear Brake Discs and Bosch pads in total, as they get so bloody rusty, every 2/3 years.

Get front disc pads (only) from E-Bay around the £12.00 figure, 2 yearly.

If you do your own servicing every 12 months, or 10.000 miles you would save labour costs £100 each and every time.

I have no preference what brand or non-brand I use as long it does the job correctly, and refuse to pay more for an inflated brand price.

The Fabia VRS is not a high performance/ tuned vehicle so the demand for high performance/ tuned replacement parts is not there, in the case of servicing.

Good luck.
