Witter detachable flange towbar

Featured Replies

Anybody had a Witter detachable flange tow bar (SK24QF) fitted to their SM.

I want the advantage of the flange plate, compared to the swan neck of the Westfalia.

I believe is uses the same cutout as the factory bar.

Very solid looking and allows a cycle carrier and a trailer due to the flange plate mountings.

Not comfortable with a tow ball only cycle mount.

Looks like the best setup, would like to hear from a user. I expect to get my SM around the end of the month, its an ex demo and will get a bar fitted or fit one myself with dedicated electrics pack.

Vaman - I've recently had a non detacheable bar fitted, not a Witter, but pretty much the same as, to which I've got a Witter bike rack bracket and bumper plate attached, and my Al-Co towball. I'll upload a couple of photos as soon as I can - assuming I can work out how to...

Many thanks that will be helpful.

Personal choice, of course, however I'd driven thousands of miles with 4 bikes on my swan-neck rack (thule). Not moved in the slightest. Always need to remember to degrease the ball though if I've been towing my trailer !

I have just changed my detachable Westfalia bar to a Tow-Trust Flanged.

It went through my cut out in the bumber without any problems, the cut-out required is much smaller on the flanged bar.
