Featured Replies

Soon to take delivery of a new VRS and was wondering whether i need to fit a tracker device and wondered whether anyone else had had a similar thought?

I posted a thread over in the Fabia I forum, see here

Thanks fletch, i'll take a look.

Don't really think this calibre of car warrants having a tracker installed on it. It has a Cat 1 security system on it in any case; probably the only way it will go walkies is if some little **** breaks into your home and steals the keys. If someone really wants my Fabia vRS estate that much then I guess I'll just have to put up with the consequences.

My Dad is a real petrol head; more so than me probably and for a number of years since retiring from work has been fortuate enough to be able to afford some really nice metal. Back in 2005 he bought a new E46 BMW M3 coupe, the insurance company insisted that he had a tracker installed as that particular car was being stolen to order an awful lot and was of quite high value (£45k I believe), if he chose not to they were going to bump up the premium "significantly". This is regardless of the fact that they live in a very low crime area and the car was going to be garaged, he also was in his late 50's and had no claims coming out of his ears.

Since he has had an E92 335d M Sport Coupe, a E81 135i M Sport coupe and now has a Boxster S PDK and there was no insistence on having a tracker on any of those. It really is car dependant and only really becomes an issue if it is an expensive stolen-to-order car.
