exhaust warning light

Featured Replies

Right guys was on way to sainsburys this afternoon and came to a stop sign as i live on blind bend country lane. check nothings coming and start to pull out, next thing u know i have the tit off all tits right up my arse so i booted it to give me some space but as i put my foot down the exhaust warning light flashed for a few seconds around 10 secs. Then goes off once i was on a straight she acted fine no change in drive or how she responds took it for a good drive in both sport and drive and shes fine. After reading the handbook it says it goes to limp mode, but i cant tell if its in that one bit.u reckon she will be ok and would i be able to tell the difference?

same as me, no limp mode, just on for 20 seconds, no loss off performance, happened at about 400 miles (same circumstances as you, pulling away) , now 1500 miles, never come on again.....

I wouldn't worry, just part of the running in process I think ;)

Belive me, you will know if you end up in limp home mode, the car will be completly unresponsive, the rev range will be restricted (don't know what that may be with these but with my Peugeot diesel it was about 3000 rpm and could not pull the skin off a rice pudding).

Anyway, did you leave the t*t standing?

It's normal guys, especially when it's fairly new and the engine is still a bit tight and ecu hasn't settled down yet. Any sudden 'full gas' or heavy right foot situation that occurs at low revs tends to chuck loads of unburned fuel into the exhaust system even on these beauts bristling with techno stuff. The various sensors in the system pick this up and think it's a momentary fault.

Was there any power loss?

worth a look

Same problem this morning - exhaust warning light came on and stayed on.

Seems to be driving normally - dealer having a look this afternoon ( 21st Feb)

John

I had this problem while using 95 ron fuel and booting it, and it did go into limp mode until switching off and restarting. now use 98+ always and no problems.

Using Shell v-power - so should be OK petrol wise.

John

OK - dealer did a re-set to clear the fault. Then drove it - seems to drive at full power with now no fault light. Told to come back if the exhaust warning light ( or any others) come on. Got home with the light still off , so lets hope thats the end of it.

no loss off power what so ever, no kick down only was on for a few secs. the car has been running on vpower since day one nothing less. lets just hope its a one off.

Are you sure its a exhaust warning light? Sounds more like the 'tailgating tit removal light' to me!

Keep this thread going. Dont like the sound of the warning light, hopefully it is just the odd one of and not a design fault.

Hope the dealers sort the cars that are going back and let us know what they find.

Cheers

no issues today got it booked for just a check up on sat just to make sure. going to get them to check the oil as well even though the lights not come on yet...

Been driving around a lot today - used the paddles for the first time.

Warning light has so far not come on again !

John

Just an update on the warning light problem.

It has not returned so looks like a one off problem when the engines are new.

My 2007 Fabia 1.9 TDI did the same last December, only my warning stayed on. I took it to the Dealer and they ran a diagnostic check and found nothing.

They said not to worry and return if it occured again. Hopefully, I don't get a repeat on my new 1.2 TSI.
