I take any brand of strut brace would fit as long it is a seat ibiza brace? Carnoisseur do a momo one for 47, compared to around 75 for an OMP one...

No problems. When you come to fit it I will warn you that it's a little tricky so you may need a mate to help you out.

Nope, it has to be the right age - mk4 ibiza I believe, feel free to correct me anyone?

PS the seat sport brace is made by momo... and costs

Does a strut brace make any difference? i am buying a vRS on the strength of the ride quality (For a hot hatch) and the mid range pickup obviously, but does it reduce body roll or what does it do? that green one looked smart but only if you leave the bonnet off

That pic of your green strut brace was what convinced me to put it on my (very short) shopping list. Looks very smart...

TBH how often do you see it? But I do agree it does look nice

Wasn't my pic but after looking at that I went shopping for some modena green paint :D

And can confirm it looks spot on "in the flesh"

Not had it on the car as yet though... Cos I've not had the car for a month! Would probably benefit from a coat or two of laquer too tho...

Bingo. They are designed to stiffen the body and reduce roll. From those that have fitted them so far, I'm told they reduce roll and tidy up the steering a lot without making the ride unduly harsh like lowering it could do. However, it won't handle as well as if it was lowered also, and the loss of grip is apparently more sudden when you do lose traction... anybody with one already fitted want to confirm this or correct me? :D

I can't say understeer is more sudden with the seat strut brace, but you are going faster when it does happen :D

My vrs feels great with the strut brace and no other mods, you can feel it hanging on around tight corners and roll is less. I can't comment on how sudden loss of traction would be on a completely dry road/track however as i cant remember the last time i went on one!

I am running goodyear eagles at the front BTW and i have read that they understeer safely/progressively anyway. Cant recommend them enough, they rule in the wet. :)

Don't expect it to reduce roll as you're only putting a bar between the front of the top two turrets! You have done nothing to the bottom of those turrets to keep them parallel and nothing to the rear of the car (where there is no ARB!). It also won't affect the ride as all it does is keep the front struts parallel :D

However, it will sharpen the steering up and is an improvement on a lowered car (it's doing exactly the same job ;)). Can't comment about the loss of grip - that's more down to the tyre characteristics than a strut brace ;)
