Problem with Felicia Throttle Body Allignment

I was asked by a friend to look at his Felicia with my VAG-COM to reset his the throttle body after he cleaned it.

The car would idle at 2000rpm after you take your foot of the accelerator. So I tried

Cable-Throttle Engines

(These are engines with a physical cable between the accelerator and the throttle, but WITHOUT an ISV.)

Turn the key on but do not start the car.

[Measuring Blocks - 08]

Enter Group 098 (Note: Some SIMOS or Marelli ECU's use Group 001 such as ADY & AEE engines)

[Go!]

[switch to basic settings]

Once you do this you will see the top right display say ADP RUN. The TB adaptation is being done as soon as you switch to basic settings. You will see the values change and hear the TB cycle for the first few seconds then it will stop. Leave it in Basic Settings for about 30 seconds.

Click the [switch to Meas. Blocks] button and you're all set.

Be sure not to touch the accelerator and make sure the engine is NOT running when you do this!

The problem is that I never got this, I tried both 098 and 001

Once you do this you will see the top right display say ADP RUN

can you go into measuring blocks 08, group 04, then tell me what the binary readout in in the 4th window then get back to me

The 4th window was (000)

For some reason channel 060 rings a bell with regard to throttle body adaptation, though it may be for a completely different vehicle.

I tried that too

060 is for Drive by wire

001 is for simos

098 is for Drive by throttle cable

just don't know what to do. The chap wants to buy a new throttle body, but that could be a waste of money

Is there enough slack in the throttle cable?, tightish cables on these can cause problems.

try adaption (10) then save group 00 (factory reset), also has he cleaned the throttle body and if so is it now leaking air between the tb and the manifold..

what throttle angle is reported in measuring blocks with it on idle (engine running)should be around 6-7 deg
