Looks like a cheap way of shortening the throw.

I bought one. It was identical to my stock one. Seems that early Octavia vRS had the longer one but they switched to the TT one later on. Mine's a 2004.

The Forge short shifter works well and isn't that expensive.

And metal shifter bushes make a huge difference.
