Have you left the indicator stalk set to left or right before leaving the car? This will bring on the parking lights.

Is the car locked?

Mine does this until I lock it

Locked and unlocked it seems to keepo doing it!

went out and locled it last night when it was doing it as that hasad occoured to me and then listened to it bonging away to itself till i got boartd and went in......

Are you sat in the car, or are you hearing the bonging when you are stood next to the car?

I always thought that the bong (with engine off and door open) is telling you that you have left your lights on.

As above, it is possible to leave your parking lights on despite the headlight switch being off.

If you leave your indicator stalk in either left or right position when you pull the keys out of the ignition and open the door you'll get the bong as the parking lights are on.

I've never known it to bong with the door shut though!?

Seatbelt warning?

I had this at the weekend, coincidentally while using VCDS.

The scan brought back

It seemed to come from the door speaker by the handle.

Run engine and the noise went. Not so much a bong as a dull boop.

I had this -they replaced the radio-still happened. It does it now if I leave tailgate open for a long time. Its a warning that battery is being drained. Also if its making the sound the radio will switch off when switched on displaying message saying battery getting low. Also get dealer to check drain on battery when all lights/radio/heating etc switched off . Mine had a drain from relay stuck open

Interesting, makes sense now and ties in with the OP mentioning he's had a few flat batteries.

Great information
