Stream AUX in & radio code?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I'm new here, just bought an '05 Octavia Estate, and enjoying it a lot so far, but! I needed an aux in solution for ipod etc, and have gone down the Connects2 route.

Now, before I start pulling the headunit out, will I need to put a radio / security code in when I reattach it? I did when I did a similar mod on a Saab 900. I don't think I have a code in the paperwork that came with the car, is it a dealer job, will it cost?

Thanks in advance,

Jeff.

If the headunit is the original one, then no you dont need a code as the code is sent via canbus to the headunit from the ecu where the code is prestored.

Connects2 can be pretty easily routed to the glovebox, or the top storage drawer, or the ashtray if you like. All within easy cabling of the headunit.

No, as long as you're not changing your headunit it'll connect back up without issue. The ECU stores the security coding for the Stream.

Also, if you're wondering about the removal steps, this provides very good guidance for the initial process:

Brilliant, cheers guys.

I'd found the octavia-vrs site, but thought when it mentioned removing the -ve battery lead that might clear the radio code.

No, the battery disconnection is a precaution anyway. But disconnecting the battery won't clear the radio code

Shame you went the Connects2 route, I have a Dension Gateway 300 and a Stream MP3 for sale in the classifieds section .....
