Skoda octavia VRS stage 2?

Featured Replies

Can people tell me what the cheapest way to get stage 2 is? Is it a full exhaust? Could an s3 exhaust be fitted and extended or even a edition30? I want to go stage 2 but i do not have £900 for exhaust system and dont really fancy a 200 cell cat or decat in case of the local police pulling me or having to change it mot or worse 200 cell failing mot.

What results do most people get on stage 2?

Don't need the full exhaust, just a 3 inch down pipe will do the trick. You'll change your mind on 200 cell when you see the price difference :giggle: can get EC approved ones.

Stage 2 is at least cat back and Induction kit isn't it?

? So is it 3" downpipe and induction kit or manily the down pipe? Do most people on here run decat or sports cat? decat down pipes can be had for about £200 and sports cat about £500? Need some advice

For Stage 2 you do not NEED anything other than software.

It is adviseable to have the following

- Turbo Down Pipe

- Cold Air Induction Kit

I would recommend at least getting a CAI if not a downpipe

It's only Stage 2+ where you need other parts which are uprated HPFP and Turbo Downpipe

The Cat Back Exhaust does absolutely naff all other than change looks and sound. All the restriction is between the turbo and the cat. As with anything though it is beneficial to make the engines life as easy as possible.

My car currently has power wise:

REVO Stage 2

Neuspeed Turbo Outlet Pipe

S3 Intercooler

Neuspeed Intercooler Pipe

APR HPFP

EVOMS CAI

Full Miltek TBE.

This gives 270bhp & 290lb/ft on JKM's rollers.

Carl do you have any more info to prove this like maybe dyno results or even vcds logs?

I'm tempted to look for a cat back but am not interested in the extra noise only the power output.

Cat back does almost nothing for power dude. With the k03 / k04 turbos, because of their design you can't really even get too fancy with your down pipe design. For example, it's beneficial to separate wastegate flow from turbine flow - that's just not really possible to do with these I don't think, maybe you could run a Tongue into the turbo itself and continue that down your downpipe for 12 inches or so effectively separating the flows but that would be murder to manufacture and you'd need a flow bench to find the optimal design.

Factoring in the bends the downpipe has to make, you'd probably make flow worse without extreme care and testing.

With these, the best you can practically do is run a fat pipe from the turbo exit and keep the bends equal diameter, and not step down the size suddenly, I.e. Use a conical shape for step downs.

I can remember the technical terms, skin friction or something like that.

Basically the best we can do for these is almost the cheapest so it's good from that point of view.

The further away from the turbo outlet the less the diameter and turns matter, cat back offers very little but downpipe offers most gains. Turbo back vs downpipe on some 400+ bhp cars (although not k03/k04) can be as little as 2-3bhp and often around 5bhp.

Search the Subaru forums, there are some ultra keen guys who work with major race teams and parts manufacturers who freely share their knowledge.

Key point is 3 inch downpipe is more than enough for our engines with k03 turbos, even highly tuned (i.e. not just remap but also head work and cams) k04s won't see much if any benefit from bigger than 3 inch.

Google is yer best pal :-)

Proof of the pudding is in driving............

I can't confirm actual figures, but what I can confirm is Carl's car is fast, and I mean fast! Mine is running stage 1 software with an Evoms intake, my best estimate would be between 235-240 bhp, and it is quick, but after going out in Carl's I was gutted!! :'(

Noise wise it doesn't sound any different to standard imo, apart from the V6 engine sound it makes due to the uprated engine mount kit!

I'm sure Carl will upload dyno results as so as.

I will have to find them as they are on an External drive somewhere. But when i went Revo Stage 1 i had (with EVOMS) 237bhp and 275lb/ft. The next thing i did was get KONI FSD Suspension and Miltek Cat Back Exhaust. My power run was exactly the same, well it was actually 2Bhp less and about 10lb/ft down but that was more to do with it being a hot June day compared to the December when i had it remapped.

As i said all the restriction is in the downpipe and the Cat. Next time i upgrade a car i would only get the Downpipe & Sports Cat

Thanks chaps

I guess the only real way to tell would be on a dyno back to back. I definitly agree that downpipe is the most important but if a little more is squeezed out of the cat back it maybe worth it .

I will do some searching.

Tbh stage2+/stage 3 is a different world, you need the hpfp and the downpipe in your life

ill verify that as well from personal experience as well. Absolutely FECK all difference.

you need a downpipe for stage 2 and that is it. Purely on the basis of keeping the exhaust gas temps down. Of course you could put a stage 2 map on a car with a standard system, but then you prematurely burning the catalytic material.

Not as long as I have swmbo in mine........... :'(

:( I snuck mine on without SWMBO even knowing

Got my MOT in May so I'm gonna try get the car nice and hot and the tester is gonna try get it past, if not I will have to swap pipes and make up an excuse to SWMBO :S

I tried that trick with the suspension but got nailed, the telephone conversation went something like this:

Lee, why is there a box in the porch that says Lowering springs?

They are for a friend at work, I said he could have them delivered to me

Which friend?

Jay

End conversation.

For the record, Jay drives a Fester ST and swmbo knew this.........5minutes later I get a picture message from the missus of the box with the label that says: Skoda Octavia Estate Lowering springs!!!! Gotcha.............:(

Ouch! It's awful when that happens. I've never got busted with car stuff yet, I'm getting too good at sneaking stuff on. I find planning months in advance for her to be out for fitting and getting parts delivered to my mums a great help.

Carl I couldn't stand the two weeks silence in that plan, best just to not get caught at all.
