Alarm problems

Featured Replies

My alarm has started to go off randomly, it might have been doing it for a couple of days as the car has been parked down the road recently due to lack of spaces by the house!

Anyway noticed recently that the indicators weren't always flashing when locking, but red "armed" light was still blinking so ignored it. Tonight it went off three times, indicators did flash once re-locking but still went off again. Open and closed all doors and boot. Used my initiative and removed Fuse 60 and no alarm anymore, done a search on here and found others have done the same! I also read there is a method of disarming the alarm locking in the doorlock then turning again?

Anything I can do to try and solve this? Or is it a plug-in to diagnostics case? Luckily it's going in tues for service. Just wondered if it's battery related as as far as I know it's the original battery. Also in the owners manual it says life expectancy of alarm horn is 5 years? What's that about? My car is coming up 5 years old, is it related to that?! Do Fabia's electrical systems self-destruct on 5th birthday? :o :wonder:

Would the backup battery failing cause the alarm to go off? I'll give the bonnet a good slam tomorrow and stick the fuse back in, see what happens!

No, the backup battery is only there in case a thief tries to chop through the main battery cables.

Well, slammed all doors and bonnet, put fuse 60 back in and within an hour the alarm went again? Any other ideas to pass on to garage?

Interior sensor, try killing deadlock by locking car twice with remote, that kills the interior sensor as well.

Had a similar problem the car was locking ok but occasionally the alarm went off no fun at 3 in the morning :) Took it to garage who found the connectors on the alarm wiring on the passenger door were badly corroded. They cleaned up the terminals and replaced the connectors problem solved Joe
