Warning Lights

Had my 05 plate in yesterday to get the tracking sorted.The lad takes it for out to see what it drives like.

He comes back with fumes coming from under the car, the glow plug light flashing and the engine management light flashing aswell.

I think the toss** must have been thrashing the car.Anyway got the lights reset at a mates garage who says it might having something to do with the injection needle.Any ideas lads and do you think the lights have come on because of this nobber or just a coincidence.
