Hi all, new to this forum, but have owned the Fabia 2 1.9tdi(105) for 12 months now. The question I pose is: under the car on the drivers side midway between the front and rear wheels is a thin silver radiator type thingy.

Anyone know what it's for. My spanner man pointed it out today after a service and after much head scratching we figured it was to cool/warm the fuel??

Be interested to know for sure.

Only thing I can see is "Cooler for exhaust gas recuperation"

It's a fuel cooler.

I do believe there is a flow of fuel from the fuel tank as well as having a fuel return system, but not 100% sure.

don't know the car peronally but i am assuming this is a common rail diesel? If so, more fuel is sent to the engine than is actually used and the unused fuel is returned to the fuel tank. As the fuel has been under high pressure (something ridiculous like 20 to 30,000 psi i think) the fuel gets very hot so i am guessing here that what you have seen is a heat exchanger before the fuel is returned to the main tank.

However, i could be completly wrong.

It's a fuel cooler.

+1 the Mk1 has one.

All though its already been established, fuel cooler. very important not to damage it or bad things happen according to my mechanic after i told him i had been off roading this was with my old 1.4TDi polo though.
